A friend of mine sent me this e-mail I asked her if I could share it with you and she said sure. I'm sure there is someone in the unit who can help her out with this subject:
class.
She's in her final semester before internship for a degree in teaching
history and is asking for help finding something. For the paper she's
working on she needs 2 first hand accounts dealing with the 13th Texas
Calvary...I'm probably screwing this part up. Apparently she's having a
hard
time getting the information because there are only a couple of sources
she
could find and neither of them are local. She'd be traveling to Austin.
I
know that you have always been a huge buff so I was wondering if you
might
know anyone who might have anything like this. It has to be
unpublished.
I've checked my family records and have a lot of stuff on the 17th
regiment
and even the 8th and 9th (yes,the Buffalo Soldiers...my family lived in
the
Fort they were stationed at for a time), but nothing about what she
needs.
She doesn't need the originals since her professor knows the
information is
hard to find. She just needs copies. I believe she said the deadline
for the
rough draft is the 13th. The paper is due the beginning of next month.
If
you can help her at all I'd really appreciate it.I know she will too.
