To one and all commanders within the state,
With this war now appearing to be a lasting one based on the resolve of both sides fighting it, the need for unit fellowship and the ability to spend the season with family based on the pretext of out of state deployment come Spring, and a need for moral increase in an army formed of men not accustom to being away from family and home it has been decided to hold winter camp near Caldwell, Texas. A local farmer of the area has been nice enough to volunteer his pastures to the use of our Army for a Temporary camp in which to send for our families and celebrate the coming holiday season.
Be it known that from the dates of December 8, 2006 through December 10, 2006 all are invited to bring both unit and family for this chance to spend the holidays together. There will be plenty of room for encampment of all sorts of units, Infantry, Cavalry, and Artillery. There will be area for drill, plus ample area for a tactical if desired by all participating. There are plenty of cedar trees for cutting to use as Unit Christmas Trees. Fire wood and Hay will be provided for all attending.
Please send notice if you or any of your unit intend on this get away. This will be free from the public, and will be for the purpose of Unit fellowship, and the benefit of the re-enactors involved. The area is located approximately 8 miles south of Caldwell off of State Hwy 36. The entrance will be marked with both Rebel flags flying at the gate. Lanterns will be hung as well in the evening hours to mark the entrance. It is rural, so do expect bumpy roads. The camp site will be mowed prior to the weekend to provide for ease of set up.
I do hope all will be able to consider attending. There will be no registration fee as that there is neither main meal planned, nor dance at this point. If units wish to have a dance it is encourage amongst the individual units. As well restroom facilities will be primitive (outhouses), anyone wanting to bring there own arrangements are encouraged to do so. Campers are welcome, however there are no electrical nor water hookups available.
Once again, thank you for your time in considering this event. It is for the purpose of unit fellowship and celebration of the coming Christmas season. All are welcome, yes no matter which army you are loyal too. We hope to see you in Caldwell.
