The big difference is of course I could throw him into fights when ever I liked and I could make him keep going, even with blood dripping from every limb of his body. Story telling, if you did that Holmes wouldn't have to end up killing himself. The opening would finish him off before the story starts to make sense. Not that I make sense.

This discussion reminds me of when I was role playing. I kept beating my characters up for the fun of it. Poor Makato, who matchs Hugh in likeness and age, bore the the brunt of my aggression.
