“Now that we have all eaten…Deidre, are you quite alright?”
The irregular, who was red in the face replied, coughing “ya…hrrrmmm…just swallowed a bit fast.” but that was all she could manage to say, as Watson, who she had been dodging for the past five minutes, now landed a good ‘thump’ on the small of her back.
“OW!...hrrrrmmmm…Alright already!”
Chuckling, 2103 Holmes started to speak again “as I was saying, now that we have all eaten I think it important that we organize our selves, we are very close to the competition of this little drama, but as Moriarty has not yet made himself known to us, I think it time that we lure him into the spotlight.”
“And how are we gunna do that?” asked Lestrade, eyeing 2103 Holmes warily
“Well, to start, Lestrade, I should appreciate it if you would-”
“I know, I know, go look up information on Powell.”
“No” 2103 Holmes cautioned her, a hint of tolerance in his voice.
“What then?” Lestrade looked genuinely confused.
“Doctor Powell is no longer an important factor in this investigation. You, Lestrade, have enough information to arrest him easily, and that is what you must do, we do not want Moriarty to have the option of help from that area should he choose to resort to blackmail. I should appreciate it if you would take Theodore and make the arrest.”
“Sure, but why take the kid?” she asked annoyed.
“Because, Lestrade, Theodore has not yet made the acquaintance of the man who shall we say ‘landed’ him in his current situation. moreover, if you are to support your claims to the yard and to Powell himself, would it not be of help to have with you, the young boy himself, who has no DNA on file, any reputation in this time, any relatives as far as we know, and an extensive knowledge of the day to day life of his own time?
“I see your point.”
“Thank you; is that congenial to you Theodore?”
It didn’t really matter, after all, knowing Holmes if he said ‘no’ he had better change his mind real quick.
“Ya sure” he really didn’t want to be alone with Lestrade, but preference aside he could see 2103 Holmes’ point.
“Excellent, Deidre, Wiggins Tennyson, you will question your regular targets, here’s the list” he continued, removing from his pocket the same leather-bound notebook which he had shown to Theodore earlier, Theodore felt a great surge of annoyance, he really wanted to go with the irregulars.
“Sure!” Deidre piped up.
“Sounds good” smiled Wiggins.
“Beep beep!” Tennyson chipped in with enthusiasm.
Theodore wanted to slap someone, preferably Lestrade.
“Watson, originally I was going to have you go with the irregulars…”
Instantly a huge amount of catcalls and a series of ‘we can take care of our selves!’ erupted from the tiny group.
“However…” 2103 Holmes warned, and they shut up just as fast “I should prefer it if you would accompany myself and…myself while we make our way over to Sir Evan’s laboratory, indeed it should have been my fist action, it was unwise to wait.
I should like to ask him a few questions, Lestrade, do finish with Powell as soon as possible, I would like both you and Theodore to join us there.”
“My pleasure.” Lestrade agreed, smiling ever so slightly.
Theodore had to suppress a snort, he knew what 2103 Holmes was up to, he didn’t want to give his other self the chance to bring up the incident in the living room and was taking precautions to that effect.
Crafty devil that he was.
Theodore could tell that 1800 Holmes had sensed the same thing, in fact, he looked positively dubious, but again, no one seemed to notice, as everyone was too absorbed in paying rapt attention to their own instructions.
“Good, then we are all in agreement?” asked 2103 Holmes glancing over at himself, who nodded “very well then, I suggest, that as soon as we all clear the table, that we start out upon our investigation.
