Hello Diane, I wanted to comment on your post as well. I have pulled UKC quite a few times and think the rule is OK if used correctly, it allows a new handler and dog room to learn and help the dog through a couple of times before you are eliminated so that you can use it almost as a training session for your new dog. If the dog is scared and you stop right then it will probably stay with the dog were if you are allowed to walk through it maybe even putting your hands on the dog it will most likely get over its fears and possibly gain show confidence. I agree that a dog giving its all and needs help to finish should not necessarily have to try again, but I have seen it be done and have never seen a dog injured more than a broken nail. JMO.
