new to Accokeek--have some questions

Hi! I'm looking for a kind soul who knows about Accokeek and can answer some questions for me--I have just relocated to Accokeek from Southern California. I am living in a house with a wooded area in the back and am wondering if I should be on the look-out for snakes? Or any other critters, other than squirrels and wasps, which I have already discovered. Also, what is a typical summer like here--how hot, how humid, how many storms, do we have tornadoes here, hurricanes? Anything at all that you'd like to tell me about this area would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thanks!
