My husband and I have been looking for a home in Accokeek for the past 3 months. I like the traditional and historic atmosphere. However, I'm curious as to what future projects/developments such as, shopping/towne centers, banks, medical facilities and pharmacies, daycare services, transportation improvements (rush hour congestion), etc..., may be coming withing the next 5 years. Will Accokeek or does Accokeek want to grow? What does Accokeek offer as a "return on investment" for buying a $300K+ house? Will my value appreciate? With plenty of people moving to Accokeek and nearby areas, I would think that there would be some plans for development projects to service the people who live there now and are investing in their communities, as well as people who will move to the area in the future. I like the idea of living in a traditional, quiet and historic area, it reminds me of home. However, you may want to take a look at how they are developing in Clarksburg, MD (a town with alot of history). I've also noticed that the taxes in Prince Goerges County are higher in comparison to Montgomery County. How does Accokeek put that money back into the community, i.e. developments, schools, highways, etc? With Accokeek only being about 20 miles from DC, change and development is almost inevitable.
