Posted by ARE'ARE VISION No doubt East and West Are'Are have qualified human resources in various streams of professionals. No official report on this issue is available in order to make a fair judgment on this matter. However, the number of professionals working in Honiara, Provincial Headquaters and overseas speak for itself. Despite this, few professionals managed to use their skills and resources to assist our people, whilst the rest remain unused. The interesting issue of whether these professionals have the liberty to work with our members is an individual choice. But it is a practice that our members neither request nor appoint them to sit in their forum. Because of that educated Arekas, continue to remain unheard or incapable to particpate in the process of rural developments in our various villages. In any case, I beleive Arekas working in Honiara might help any candidate who has shown interest to assist in any development programs. The Minister should also note that engaging these professional people requires some kind of understanding. Whether that understanding is free or conditional, its up to individual professional to decides. But the current practice is that our leaders failed to request or appoint our educated Arekas to table these development projects. I am not aware of any intending candidate wishes to select or appoint educated Arekas to sit in his forum but I believe, a secure and viable leaders must do so. PROPOSED IDEA Arekas we have various qualified professionals ranging from lawyers, doctors, teachers, economists, bankers, IT computer, engineers etc. These professionals are in demand to involve in any developments that proposed to take place in our Constituency. In the mean time, am not sure whether this idea would go down well with whoever comes into powers after 5th April. In any case, development in Are'Are warrants, pooling of all resources together in order to move forward. Exclusion of human resources in our constituencies denies landowners rights to practipate, use and control such developments. CONCLUSION As common in the villages excluding one or two professionals without any just cause warrants either or both to take out land dispute or apply to High Court seeking an interim injunctive order to stop the logging, cocoa project or timber millings etc Erete kau
