I live close to there and can say that if the settlement continues to grow (Commissioner of Land (COL)must put a stop to this), then similar problems like those in other outskirts in Hon will emerge in the next few years at Panatina area. Among other probs, this will cause huge problems to SICHE and KGVI students. I do not think that Caveat is the appropriate legal remedy. It is only a short term.The AG's office should lodge a "permanent injunction" to stop all developments in the "public interest". We haven't seen AG's office acting to protect Public interest through litigation as yet. AG has "locus standi". Secondly Govt should invoke its power of compulsory acquisition to acquire the land back for public purpose (S.71, 72 - Land & Titles Act (Cap 133). And then give the title to SIWA. Well its always easy to say things, but if we can properly research the problem we may offer a soulution based on merits.

Very true. Its an issue of great public concern. Sad to say that no one seem to be taking heed, including the relevant govt departments. Mr. Houtarau confirmed that the catchment is contaminated (SIBC media release some time ago).
