Posted by visitor on 27/7/2003, 7:42 am, in reply to "Re: Intervention" I dont think, the foreigners would keep a closed door. They will of course be open to discussions and suggestions and they will surely not approach the operation in the Solomons in a purely legalistic view. But these are just my thoughts. If a great concern is to find out about the truth behind our problems and if we have enough people like JAK, who are passionate about finding out about the truth, then they will surely be given an audience by the Intervention force. It all boils down to people's willingness to stand up in public and be involved all the way. But then, is finding out the truth important? If so why is it so important? Why not just forgive and forget and consider everything that happened as a freak occurrence of selective stupidity?
I have not read the 'enabling' bill that allow for the Austr led force to enter our country yet however i am quite sure that that bill is not the final piece of legislation that restrict or allow for the force's powers of operation within the country. The enabling bill is the key that opens the door. The force's operational guidelines whilst in the country is separate and, i hope, revisable.
