Posted by jacob.m. houtarau on 22/9/2003, 9:25 am 1. Police retrieve more stolen vehicles. Malaita police with the help of RAMSI have retireved more stolen vehicles. Most of the vehicles now kept in police custody in Auki are were recovered within the town's vicinity. Police are unable to move some of the vehicles because they lacked tyres and parts. They will be moving to Northern Region soon which was believed to have most of the stolen ehicles. 2. COM plans to relocate Selwyn College. Selwyn College relocating committee will be holding a meeting in Honiara to hear views from the public on the idea of relocating the school from its current site. The meeting will be held at All Saints starting 4pm today. The college was badly damaged during the ethnic tension. Mean while the college is also planing to have its own form seven class. 3. Plan for South Guadalcanal Election. Plans are now underway to hold an election in the South Guadalcanal constituency left vacant by slain MP Fr Augustine Geve. Electoral Office have already secured funding from Taiwan. 4. Namo Arahana Council fundraising. Namo Arahana Council will be holding a fundraising activity at Kukum Campus field on the 27th Sept. The fundraising activity is aim at raising money for this important work of geneology recording in East Areka. Chief Paurara is currently in town and co-organising this activity with Michael Ahikau and other leaders. 5. Lastly, plans is underway to constract an airfield at Masupa. An engineer has already did the survey and design. The outcome of this depends on the landowners decision and available funding. Masuspa landowners are expected to come together soon to discuss this.
