Posted by JAK on 31/10/2003, 12:32 pm There is a talk now about one overseas lawyer getting admission to the bar so that he can defend Rasta. Don't really know what the reasons are. But to think that white men lawyers will do the job better than our local ones is to me a colonial hook-up. We have some best lawyers in SI, who are capable of representing criminals. To name a few, Andrew Radcliffe a long time public solicitor. Andrew Nori, did a lot of criminal cases in High Court and others. May be there are good reasons. But i hate seeing overseas lawyers finding it a beanut to get thru our system when we cannot enjoy the same in their system.

Can't understand why foreign lawyers find it easy to register with the High Court of SI, and entitle to practice or appear in court. Can SI lawyers do likewise in NZ and Australia? I guess it would be very hard.Mr Suri what are you doing to protect our local interest.
