So compensation is still a problem that needs to be addressed on Mala.Infact the changes of society today will push the practice out of context and deteriorates its cultural significance.

But take the civil unrest compensation sydrome out of the equation and you are still left with a custom pervasive on Mala.Indeed it is a custom pervasive in SI.But the manner in which it is practiced on Mala is extrememly different. Sometimes it is characterised by violence, be it directly or indirectly.
