Posted by Karen on September 13, 2001, 3:04 pm I just wish I could do more other than sit around, hug my son every now and then, wait for the Red Cross to call about where there will be a donation center set up in town and donate financially to them and ad pages to my websites with relief information. I used to do pet therapy and know how badly comfort is needed in times if crisis and stress. This helpless feeling really sucks... But no one is being allowed to head to the Penatgon to help out due to security - unlike NYC where the out poring of volunteers is staggering and really brings back faith in the human race...
Five NYFD we found in an SUV under rubble. Two walked away and all five were ALIVE! They got in the vehicle just as the towers came down and I just woke up from a nap to find out another person was found also alive! That makes six.
No word on survivors at the Pentagon yet. My husband used to work security at a DOD contracted facility and he informed me that there will be little info coming out from the Pentagon compared to NYC due to security reasons. People were taken to the hospital associated with them and no names were released. But where he worked they had a contingency plan incase of disaster at the building and he said it was scary to read. Security of the nation first... But hopefully we will hear things soon! But there have been several bomb threats to the Pentagon since the attack and this has really hampered rescuers... Now there is a chance of storms tonight. But the fires appear to be finally out.
