"A COUNTY OR MUNICIPAL CORPORATION MAY NOT REGULATE [DANGEROUS] DOGS IN A MANNER THAT IS SPECIFIC TO BREED." There will be a hearing on HB 562 on Tuesday, February 19, 2002 at 1pm in Annapolis. More details to follow. http://mlis.state.md.us/2002rs/bills/hb/hb0562f.rtf (Note: There is an amendment that will be attached shortly to correct some language on the proposal) Ladies and Gentlemen, this is our opportunity to save our dogs and ourselves from breed specific legislation in the state of Maryland!!! Contact the Judicary committee members, your own delegates, and if everyone tells all their friends to do so as well, it adds up!! Basically, HB 562 (with amendments) creates a stronger dangerous dog law and it will call for a prohibition on breed bans. Counties and municipalities are allowed to make their laws more stringent, as long as the laws are not specific as to breed. Please do this today: Contact the Judiciary Committee members and encourage them to vote FOR HB 562 WITH AMENDMENTS. Maryland residents are strongly urged to contact their own District's Delegates and the Delegates in their surrounding Districts and ask them to sign onto HB 562 WITH AMENDMENTS.
