He's been to numerous vets and they say no infection etc but you know how it often goes with vets too... they tend to allow people to believe that they are also qualified behaviourists (the two things don't always automatically go hand in hand and I would want to see their qualifications), they are now telling her that this is a straight out behavioural problem and saying that hormone treatment is a possibility. BUT... the dog is young and a long lifed breed - even the vets hesitate to begin a life time regime of HT in this case. So I agree with you, back to basics and she will probably need to buy a crate (not commonly understood here in NZ - crating that is) if she isn't willing to leash hime to her for a couple of weeks. Thanks Karen, I'm hoping to hear back from her today or tomorrow, I've also got some good ideas form another board to pass on to her. I'm also thinking that maybe she used amonia based cleaning products for piddle clean up (most people don't know any better) and that with starting with a clean slate in a new home (and learning about how to get rid of urine smells from a dogs point of view) that the dog will have a better chance to get to grips with his toilet habbits. I will keep you posted on this one - thanks!
