Two weeks in a home should be enough since you are versed in dogs to get an idea of what type of home would be best. I would recommend a home with no children under midteens and ideally where someone is home during the day to help the dog learn (a retired couple or home with an at home mom of older kids). And maybe where he is the only dog for the time being or in a home with calm dogs (and at least a 6' fence!!!).
