Prediction
This team will has a lot of talent to replace with the (8) graduating seniors. Fortunately for Phillipsburg they have been blessed with very talented backups who have waited their turn. It’s this depth that allows them to reload so quickly. The middle school has been churning out very good wrestlers for the last three years. This has allowed the coaches to let the JV wrestlers develop naturally without rushing them into a varsity role before they are ready. They return a very good core of varsity wrestlers who will be bolstered by very capable backups from last years bumper crop of sophomores. There is also the rumor that they will see the possible return of Jr. Jason Herman and Sr. Trevor Atkinson which will fill in the upper weights nicely. Phillipsburg should start the season ranked somewhere between 8-12 but don't be surprised if they finish higher. Look for the Stateliners to vie for the North 2 Group 3 sectional championship along with South Plainfield. The Group III championship will most likely go thru High Point who will be heavily favored after last years disappointment. Only a fool would ever count out South Plainfield or Phillipsburg!!!
