Posted by Iowa Caucuses CALGARY, Alberta, Canada (Des Moines Register) - Conservative Leader Stephen Harper appears before an enthusiastic crowd of party members to give a speech regarding the party's fortunes in the upcoming elections. Harper began "I'm sure there are some excited people here. You know what? You know something? You know something? If you had told us one year ago that we were going to come in second in Ontario, we would have given anything for that." With his voice rising into a war whoop, he continues "And you know something? You know something? Not only are we going to New Brunswick ... we're going to British Columbia and the Yukon and Alberta and Saskatchewan and Manitoba, and we're going to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and PEI. And we're going to Nunavut and Ontario and Quebec and the Northwest Territories. And then we're going to Ottawa to take back Parliament Hill. YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!" Harper stops for a short breath before resuming his openly-embarrasing tirade "We will not give up. We will not give up in New Brunswick. We will not give up in Nova Scotia. We will not give up in Alberta or British Columbia, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Quebec, PEI, Newfoundland, Manitoba." Regaining his composure, he concludes "We will not quit now or ever. We'll earn our country back for ordinary Canadians." Stephen Harper's Conservatives are currently leading the Liberals by two percent in the polls in Ontario, and are nationally poised to form a minority government with a possibile majority.
