What happened to this poor kitten is in no way your fault and I think you have been more than generous. I believe you've done more than you needed to and she has no right to expect it. Are you absolutely sure the kitten has passed away? It just seems far too suspicious to me. You have done more than you needed and in my mind, she should be grateful to you for even offering!
