Hi Kat, I sympathise with your feelings of distress - it might surprise you that many Breeders also experience the same distress at the pointless loss of life...On one hand you have a point but on the other there are many people who for various reasons want a specific breed of cat with specific characteristics in look and temperament - these people will never take in a Rescue Cat.....and that is their right. What needs to happen though is that only Registered Breeders should breed or be allowed to keep entire cats and therse should not be sold unless de-sexed or going to another Registered breeder. It is Pet shop impulse buying of un-desexed kittens that cause a lot of the oversupply and dumping of cats into a homeless state.....this needs legislation to stop it but unfortunately this is a long way off.... The Breeders of Registered cats that I know all stand behind kittens they breed and early desex to prevent adding to the problem.
