The Lady Cats picked up their first ECOL victory tonight by blanking the New Philly Lady Quakers by a 7 - 0 score. Paige Young pitched a one-hitter, recording 7 strikeouts along the way.
Cambridge got started early as Sarah Starr reached on an error in the 1st inning and scored on a single by Janelle Givens. The Cats added 4 more in the fourth as they sent 10 batters to the plate. Givens walked with one out, Carly Kehn walked after the second out and Chanel Ford singled. With the bases loaded, Alexa Kafury drove a double to center field to clear the bases. Taryn Payton then singled to score Kafury to end the scoring for the inning.
The Cats added one more in the 5th as Givens doubled and came home on a sacrifice fly by Kehn. Sarah Starr added the final run in the 6th. After beating out an infield single, moving to second on a fielder's choice and to third on a single, an error by the shortstop allowed her to cross the plate.
Givens finished with a single, double and RBI, Kafury had a double and 3 RBI's, Payton had a single and RBI, and singles were recorded by Sarah Starr, Maggie Starr, Lacie Mahley, Ford, and Kehn added an RBI.
The Cats are now 2-0 (1-0 in ECOL) and will entertain Zanesville tomorrow night beginning at 5pm.
