The Lady Cats picked up their third win in as many starts by blanking the Lady Blue Devils tonight by a score of 8 - 0. Summer Allen pitched a 2-hitter for the Cats, recording 3 strikeouts and no walks. The two hits came in the 6th inning, spoiling Allen's perfect game bid.
The Cats recorded 8 stolen bases on the night, including three double steal plays that all resulted in runs.
Cambridge scored one run in the first on a single by Lacie Mahley, a single by Janelle Givens which moved Mahley to third, and a double steal that had Mahley stealing home while Givens went to second. The Cats tallied another run in the 3rd as Sarah Starr doubled and Givens singled for the RBI.
The Cambridge bats came alive in the 5th as Starr opened with a triple, scored on a single by Maggie Starr, Maggie then scored on Mahley's double. Givens singled then a repeat of the double steal play allowed Mahley to score.
The final run scored in the 6th as Taryn Payton singled, moved to third as Sarah Starr reached on an error, and the third double steal play had Payton scoring as Starr reached second.
Offensively for the Cats, Givens had 3 singles, 3 stolen bases and an RBI, Sarah Starr had a ground-rule double, triple and 2 stolen bases, Mahley had a single, double and stole home twice. Chanel Ford added 2 singles, Taryn Payton and Maggie Starr each added singles and stolen bases, with Payton stealing home.
The Cats are scheduled to visit Claymont tomorrow evening with game time 5pm.
