Cambridge topped Claymont tonight by a score of 9 - 2. Paige Young pitched the first 5 innings and picked up the win, but left with a hyper-extended knee. Summer Allen came on and pitched the final two innings. Each pitcher gave up one run, the first earned runs of the year for both.
Cambridge recorded just 7 hits to Claymont's 5 hits. The Cats were able to take advantage of Mustang errors, walks and wild pitches. Sarah Starr recorded 2 RBI's while the other 7 runs were unearned.
Starr and Lacie Mahley scored in the first inning on an error. Starr scored again in the third on an error. In the fourth, Starr, Maggie Starr and Alexa Kafury all scored on wild pitches, while Ford scored on an error. The final Bobcat runs came on Starr's RBI's in the fifth.
Offensively, Starr had 3 singles to pace the Cats. Janelle Givens, Megan Tharp, Chanel Ford and Alexa Kafury each added a single.
Cambridge is slated to take on Dover tomorrow night in Dover at 5pm if the weather cooperates.
