The Lady Cats picked up wins number 9 and 10 by beating Buckeye Trail 9-0 and 11-7 today.
In game one, Cambridge scored one in the first on Maggie Starr's single and two Trail errors. Two more runs scored in the third as Janelle Givens and Megan Tharp walked and came home on Carly Kehn's single. Another run scored in the fourth as Taryn Payton opened with a single and scored on Lacie Mahley's sacrifice fly. Three runs scored in the fifth as Kehn and Payton reached on fielder's choices, Alexa Kafury walked, Payton scored on a wild pitch and Sarah Starr brought the other two home on a single. The final runs scored in the sixth as Givens walked and ended up scoring on a wild pitch.
Paige Young went the distance for the Cats, allowing one hit, four walks and striking out seven.
Maggie Starr finished with 3 singles, Tharp had 2 singles, Sarah Starr and Kehn added a single with 2 RBI's and Payton had a single and RBI.
In game two, Summer Allen started for the Cats but was relieved by Young after Trail came out hitting and put 6 runs on the board in the first. Allen surrendered six hits and a walk in her portion of the first.
Cambridge went down in order in the first two innings, but put 2 runs on the board in the third on a walk by Kafury and Sarah Starr's two-run homer to left, her first of the year. In the fourth, Givens doubled and came home on Chanel Ford's single, who in turn scored on Kafury's double. Cambridge tied the game in the fifth as Sarah Starr walked and scored on Maggie Starr's single, Givens walked and scored on a wild pitch.
In the sixth, Cambridge sent 11 batters to the plate and added 5 more runs. Kafury singled, the next two batters flied out, then Sarah Starr singled and Maggie Starr brought them both home on her sixth hit of the day. Mahley reached on an error and Givens launched her second homerun of the year deep over the left field fence to bring in three more runs. Trail tallied one additional run in the sixth on a solo homerun to right by Julie Bates.
Young picked up the win for the Cats, giving up 6 hits and recording 5 K's. Cambridge posted 13 hits with Maggie Starr leading the way with 3 singles and 3 RBI's, Givens had a homerun, double and 3 RBI's, Sarah Starr had a homerun, single and 2 RBI's, Kafury had a double and single with an RBI, Ford had two singles and an RBI, and Tharp and Kehn each added singles.
Cambridge travels to River View Monday for a 5pm game.
