The Lady Cats picked up their 11th straight win tonight at River View by a 9-4 score. Paige Young upped her record to 9-0, giving up 8 hits and recording one strikeout against the Lady Black Bears.
Cambridge picked up their first run in the 1st as Lacie Mahley reached on a fielder's choice and came home on Megan Tharp's single to left. They added another run in the 3rd as Maggie Starr singled and came home on a ground-out by Tharp.
Cambridge put 5 runs on the board in the 4th. Alexa Kafury opened with a double and came home on Taryn Payton's single. Sarah Starr drove a hit up the middle that rolled between the center fielder's legs all the way to the fence allowing Payton and Starr to score. Lacie Mahley singled and came home on Janelle Givens homerun over the left field fence, her second in as many games.
River View answered with 3 of their own in the bottom of the 4th on a single, error, two more singles and a double.
Cambridge tallied their last two runs in the 6th as Sarah Starr singled and came home on a wild pitch, and Maggie Starr doubled and was safe on a fielder's choice play at the plate. River View added one more in their half of the 6th on two singles and a sacrifice fly.
Offensively, Maggie Starr continued her hot streak at the plate with 2 singles and a double, Janelle Givens had a double and homerun(2 RBI's), and Sarah Starr had two singles (2 RBI's). Megan Tharp added a single and 2 RBI's and Taryn Payton had a single and RBI. Alexa Kafury added a double and Lacie Mahley had a single.
Cambridge is averaging 10 runs per game, while holding their opponents to 15 runs total for a 1.4 runs per game average.
The Cats are home tomorrow night, hosting John Marshall in an OVAC match-up. Game time is 5:00pm.
