The Lady Cats' offense took a few innings to get moving tonight, but put 4 runs on the board in the 6th to cap a 7-0 shutout of the Indian Valley Lady Braves. Paige Young gave up 4 hits, one walk and struck out 7 in the effort.
Cambridge tallied one run each in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th before sending 8 batters to the plate in the 6th to seal the win.
Cambridge pounded out 14 hits with Sarah Starr and Alexa Kafury leading the way with 3 singles and 1 RBI each. Megan Tharp and Janelle Givens each added a double, single and 1 RBI, and Lacie Mahley had a single with 2 RBI's. Paige Young helped herself at the plate with 2 singles and Taryn Payton also singled.
Cambridge is on the road Friday night with an ECOL match-up at New Philly beginning at 4:30, followed by an OVAC match-up with Wheeling Park at the I-470 complex set to begin around 7pm. Saturday the Cats will travel to Barnesville for a double-header beginning at noon.
Wheeling Park was leading Cambridge in the OVAC standings by just over 1 point at the beginning of the week. This match-up looks to be the Cats' biggest challenge of the season thus far. The two teams battled for the OVAC title last year, with Cambridge sweeping a double-header to win the regular season title and Wheeling Park gaining revenge by beating the Cats in the OVAC tournament.
