The Lady Cats ended the regular season on a high note, sending the Lady Braves of Indian Valley home early with a 5-inning, 11-0 win. Paige Young picked up her 18th win of the year, allowing 3 hits, 2 walks and striking out 1.
Cambridge pounded out 18 hits, starting in the first inning as they sent 8 batters to the plate and put 2 runs on the board. Three more runs scored in the second, then the Cats put the game on ice in the third by sending 10 batters to the plate and adding 5 runs. One more run scored in the fourth for good measure.
Leading the way for the Cats was Maggie Starr with 4 singles and 1 RBI while Megan Tharp and Alexa Kafury each had 3 singles and 2 RBI's. Lacie Mahley had 2 singles (1 RBI), Sarah Starr had a single and triple (1 RBI), Janelle Givens had a double (2 RBI's) and Paige Young, Summer Allen and Taryn Payton all singled.
Cambridge awaits the outcome of the Meadowbrook-Claymont contest tonight to find out whether they share the ECOL crown three ways or tie Dover for second place. If Meadowbrook wins, Cambridge, Claymont and Dover will finish in a 3-way tie for the league championship.
The Lady Cats will open Sectional play Monday night at 5pm at Philo, meeting the winner of the Philo-Morgan game to be played on Saturday.
