The Jeff
Secrest broke her own national pole vault record with a first place effort of 13 feet, 5 1/4 inches (4.10 meters) in last weekend’s Gregory Invitational at North Central University in Naperville, Illinois, surpassing her own mark of 13-2 1/4 (4.02 meters) she set the previous week.
Secrest will be competing Friday in the NCAA Division III National Championship meet being hosted by Marietta College and has set her goal at 13-9 which would automatically qualify her for the U.S. Olympic track and field team for the 2010 London Olympics.
Secrest’s grandparents are the late Dr. and Mrs. Wayne Thatcher and the late Dr. and Mrs. Brodie Secrest, all of Cambridge. Rachel and her parents currently reside in Wheaton, Illinois.
What we allow, we encourage.
