I went to the IFAF Junior World Champoionship game featuring the US and Mexico this evening. Great players on the USA squad dominated an outmanned but scrappy Mexico squad. USA earned a berth in Sunday's championship game against Canada, a 38-35 winner over Japan.
Probably the most penalties I've ever seen in a game. USA jumped out to a 27-0 first quarter lead and never looked back.
Attendence was 11,218 at Fawcett Stadium. I sat close to the Mexican contingent. Thank goodness that they were not even in the game. Their fans were the most energetic fans of a team which was being destroyed. I went to a football game and thought that a soccer game was going to break out.
If you have Sunday afternoon free and want to see some quality football, get to Canton for the 1:00 championship game. #1 seed Canada vs #2 seed USA. The USA program is the only international program to defeat the Canadians in the history of this event. Canada holds a 7-5 advantage over the USA in this age group.
I plan on being in attendence again on Sunday.
Remember, Fox College Sports Atlantic will be airing the championship game live. That is channel 171, I believe on Time Warner.
What we allow, we encourage.
