ST. CLAIRSVILLE — When you beat your chief rival head-to-head, you should be rewarded and that was the case for the Cambridge High volleyball team which earned the No. 1 seed for the Division II Sectional Tournament at St. Clairsville.
Coach Rod Johnson’s Bobcats (16-2) gained the top seed, with Indian Creek (16-2) as the No. 2 seed.
Tournament action begins on Monday, Oct. 19 with No. 8 seed Steubenville facing No. 10 Buckeye Local in the lower bracket at 7 p.m.
Action switches to the upper bracket on Tuesday, Oct. 20, with No. 7 Edison against No. 9 Minerva at 6 p.m. and No. 5 St. Clairsville against No. 6 Meadowbrook at approximately 8 p.m. (30 minutes after the conclusion of the first match).
Back to the lower bracket on Wednesday, Oct. 21, with No. 1 Cambridge taking on No. 11 Carrollton at 6 p.m. and No. 4 East Liverpool playing the Steubenville-Buckeye Local winner in the second match.
The upper bracket semifinals are Thursday, Oct. 22, with No. 3 Beaver Local against the Edison-Minerva winner at 6 p.m. and No. 2 Indian Creek against the St. Clairsville-Meadowbrook winner as the nightcap.
Both championship games are set for Saturday, Oct. 24, with the upper bracket game at 6 p.m. and the lower bracket tilt immediately following. Both winners advance to the D-II District Tournament at Ridgewood where they will play one-another in the semifinals.
What we allow, we encourage.
