WARSAW -- Cambridge's boys soccer team shook off a slow start to rally back for a 4-2 win over host River View in East Central Ohio League soccer match on Tuesday night.
The Black Bears broke in from with a goal from Bryce Parkhill for a 1-0 lead, before the Bobcats came roaring back with three consecutive goals to grab a 3-1 lead at the halftime break. Jawann Singer got Cambridge on the board first, off an assist from Seth Warden to tie the match at 1-1. Warden then picked up his second helper of the night, teaming up with Alex Kandibovich to give the Bobcats a 2-1 lead, followed by a Sheriff Benson tally to close the first half scoring.
To open the second half of play, River View's Levi Dille pulled the host Black Bears closer at 3-2 with a goal in the opening minutes. But Benson tallied his second goal of the night, to regin control for CHS thanks to an assist from Conner Engstrom for the 4-2 final.
"We were a little lost out there at the start tonight," Cambridge coach Gheorge Radu said. "But then we got control and got the pace more to our liking. We are getting better and better as the season goes along. The progress is there and you can see it."
Cambridge enjoyed a 16-2 edge in shots on goal, with Bobcat keeper Kyle Ritz picking up 10 saves and Matt Pryor of the Black Bears finished with a total of nine.
NEXT -- Cambridge welcomes Carrollton on Thursday at 5 p.m.
