Good points CarDaddy. I don't think our district gives much thought into this area. It seems to be more of a burden to recognize past achievements than to just disregard them. I spend quite a few days in other high schools during the year with coaching and running basketball tournaments for 13 weekends per year. Sad to say, but CHS has the least regard for achievemnts of the past. Many of those who participated in the past are also voters. Maybe some of them would feel enough loyalty to their alma mater if their achievements were recognized that they'd vote yes on the levy.
Ray Simms and I started researching Cambridge basketball around 2000. Ray did most of the work without me. You can click the link at the top of the page to go to the basketball team's website and view the job Ray did putting together the history of Cambridge basketball. It's quite amazing. After I left to coach at Meadowbrook I fell about four seasons behind in updating the website. But, I am going to attempt to get it caught up this winter.
When we first approached putting together the history of the basketball program, we couldn't come up with much before 1980. Therefore 100s of hours were spent in the Finley room at the library.
We've talked about doing the history of the football program someday.
What we allow, we encourage.
