DOVER -- The 'Cats lost a hard fought contest at ECOL Scarlet division foe Dover Friday by a final score of 31-24.
The 'Cats (6-2, 2-1 ECOL Scarlet) trailed 17-7 at the half but battled back to knot the score at 24-24 in the fourth quarter. Dover (7-1, 3-0 ECOL Scarlet) went ahead for good with 8:55 remaining to play.
With the win Dover breaks a tie for first place in the scarlet division as both teams entered the game with identical 2-0 league records. Dover takes sole posession of first place and the 'Cats fall a half game behind New Philadelphia (6-2, 3-1 Scarlet) into third place.
With very little help from the teams we beat this season, other than Mount Vernon and New Philadelphia winning this week, the playoff picture is a little bleaker. The 'Cats have not been eliminated but will definitely have to win out over Zanesville and Meadowbrook and get some help from teams ranked ahead of them in Region 11 losing.
NEXT -- The 'Cats return home next week for the final home game of the 2011 season. The will face the Blue Devils of Zanesville (5-3, 1-2 Scarlet).
What we allow, we encourage.
