Senior tailback Dashaun Lewis chased New Philadelphia's Jamal Johnson the entire season. After three games Johnson led Lewis by nearly 300 yards. Heading into week ten, Johnson had just a 70-yard advantage.
With Lewis facing Meadowbrook, and Johnson facing Dover, the opportunity was there. Lewis recorded just ten touches against the Colts, rushing for 156 yards. Johnson was held to a season-low 88 yards by Dover. One more carry and Lewis has the title.
Final numbers:
Jamal Johnson, 1,657
Dashaun Lewis 1,656
Johnson had 49 more carries than did Lewis.
Lewis finished the season averaging 7.1 yards per carry, while Johnson was just under 5.9 yards per carry.
Talking about average per carry...
Junior Chase Lanning averaged 10.2 yards per attempt. Lanning netted 315 yards on just 31 carries. WOW!
Dillon Sunnafrank carried the ball just 6 times but came in with the third most rushing yards for the 'Cats at 164. That comes out to an average per carry of 27.3.
On the season Bobcat backs averaged 6.2 yards per carry. 2,615 yards on 421 carries. The 'Cats tallied 42 rushing TDs with Lewis accounting for 27.
Great job by a somewhat under-sized Bobcat offensive line!
What we allow, we encourage.
