Michael Jordan was never cut from a basketball team. That has been a non-factual story for years. Actually, Jordan did not make the varsity team as a sophomore. He did make the JV team. Therefore he wasn't actually cut. He just didn't make a talented varsity squad as a sophomore.
In my 25 years of coaching, I've never seen the number 12+ kids on a junior high team ever make a contribution to a varsity team. That is unless the kid grew a foot. And I've never seen that either. Little League ends after age 12. Once you get into schools you can't expect everyone to get an at bat and an innning in the field. Playing time is earned. As is most everything in life. Good luck to all who try out. If you don't make it. Keep plugging away. You can get better if you dedicate yourself.
What we allow, we encourage.
