Shay had the opportunity to participate in America's most important junior track meet, USA Junior Championships. This meet is open to athletes up to age 20, so most of the athletes were in college. Only 4 high school athletes competed in the heptathlon out of the 14 that were entered in the event. Although those high schoolers included the #1 senior to be, and the #1 junior to be. Throw in athletes from Duke, LSU, Southern Mississippi, Northern Iowa, and Colorado to name a few and let the fireworks begin. Shay placed 11th and honestly held her own in most of the events.
