Petunia returned balancing four bowls containing a hot boiling silvery-grayish viscous liquid within them. Setting each bowl near the Wolfen's feet and hands respectively, the manicurist smiled, "Well, all you have to do Mistress Kana is put your fingers and your toes into each bowl, hold them there for ten minutes and let the solution do its work."
Rubbing her hands in anticipation of what was to come, Petunia added, "Once you’re done, I will paint your fingernails and toenails as your Servant has requested and then we shall give your new claws a test and--if the solution is working properly--send you on your way. Beyond that, the rest is up to you."
Sighing a bit at the mention of Serna being her servant but not saying a word, Kana put her fingers and toes in each bowl. She found the liquid to be hot, but more on the uncomfortable side instead of burning. She then watched the mancurist doing Serna's hand to take her mind off of her sitting position and the time.
Serna’s manicurist was an artist par excellence. Painting Kana’s Ex-Servant’s toe nails black was the easy part, but waiting for them to dry and painting all three of the Realm’s moons during their crescent phase on so small a space as a toe and fingernail was the hard part. Still, Serna’s manicurist was more than up to the task and in fifteen minutes completed a job that would have taken a lesser artist an hour to complete.
As Serna allowed her nails to dry, she flashed her fingernails towards her friend, “Well, Mistress Kana, do you think she did a good job or what? How do you like them? Aren’t they beautiful?”
“Okay, Lady Kana, I think you have soaked them long enough,” Petunia added as she removed the bowls from Kana’s toe and finger nails, “Your new claws should be ready by now. Please give them a moment to dry while I pull out a mannequin for you to test them on.”
Pulling her hand and feet out of the bowls and allowing them to dry, Kana looked at Serna's new polish. "That's really beutiful," she answered. "She does wonderful work. They look really nice on you."
Petunia left the room and returned with a mannequin in the figure of a man donned in a shirt of heavy chain mail armor. Wheeling the test dummy before the Wolfen, the manicurist smiled, “Here we go! Are you ready to give your new weapons a test, Lady Kana?”
Kana checked to see if her nails were dry before standing and walking over to the manniquin.
Serna looked on eagerly to see whether or not the improvements to the Wolfen’s new weapons would actually work.
Kana took one look at Serna before turning to the dummy. "Here we go," she said. Then took a swipe at the armor on the chest.
