Without any pre-empting, Kana was off before Irzen had said the second 'GO!'. She shot down the road, trying to put as much distance between them and the Were-wolves as she could.
When the lights died down, the pair disappeared down the street and the Werewolves cut loose with howls and roars as they charged headlong after the duo.
"Make a right here!" shouted Irzen as he directed Kana back to the Harlech Inn, "Take a left here. Go right here!"
The Wolfen tried not to crash into anything as Irzen gave directions. At times jumping off of the buildings so she didn't have to slow down.
As Irzen and Kana tore down the blood-soaked and rain-drenched streets of Fair Weather, Werewolves that were previously occupied eating someone, converting a victim to their ranks or slaughtering someone took notice of the Dire wolf bearing the Dark Elf and began to give chase.
"Faster! Must go faster! Faster!" pleaded Irzen as he used Evenflow to slash at outstretched paws and maws that attempted to slash or bite both him and Kana.
Trying to keep from the packs, Kana decided that they needed to get off the street. In the hope that she wasn't wrong, she busted into a building and looked for the stairs to get them to the roof. Thinking, if anything, that there was a back way out.
Irzen surmised what Kana was trying to do and cried, “To your right, there are stairs to your right!”
Jumping off the wall in the attempt to turn, Kana bolted up the stairs, hoping the narrow hall would delay the Werewolves a bit.
Five Werewolves were right on their heels as they smashed through the narrow entrance to the building and charged towards them.
“No building in Fair Weather is over four stories tall,” added Irzen as they made their way to the top of the structure, “So you don’t have to worry about a long climb. The alleys are narrow so you don’t have to worry about long jumps either. But the roofs are made of a light tile, too much weight could cause them to collapse. And unless I miss my guess, the Harlech Inn is no more than a hundred yards from here to the west. If we can make it, we should be safe. I hope.”
As they quickly made their approach to the fourth story window, Irzen covered his head with his free arm and leaned downward. The Drow knew what was coming and did not fancy what Kana was about to do one bit. Meanwhile, the five Werewolves that gave chased to them barreled up the narrow staircases single file until the fourth floor corridor gave them enough room to spread out and continue the chase.
Getting to the top of the steps, Kana crashed through the window to the roof of the opposite building, and keeping in mind what Irzen said about the roofs, took off for the Inn. She knew she could tread lightly if necessary, and hoped the roof was too fragile for the Werewolves.
The Werewolves continued their chase with all deliberate speed as they leapt through the broken window sill after The Drow and The Wolfen. The first Werewolf through the broken window accidentally caught his left paw on the window sill itself and fell to his death in the alley below him before he could properly complete his jump.
Though one of their number was down, the other four Werewolves pursued their prey unabated leaping from rooftop to rooftop until the Werewolf in the rear discovered the truth of Irzen’s words when he landed too hard upon a roof and crashed through the ceiling into someone’s living room. And then there were three in hot pursuit of The Realmers...
