Once the Ranger finished walking, Willow promptly turned, aimed and fired an energy arrow at the Wolfen. Upon his mental command, the magical arrow spread out into a net wrapping itself around Kana. However, the force of the arrow hit the Wolfen so hard that it knocked the wind out of Kana and dropped her to the ground.
"Easy Willow, easy," Alyson approached the ranger on his right.
"Ooops! Sorry, Kana," Willow took a good hard look at the Energy Bow, "I think I put too much effort into it."
"Mistress Kana, are you alright?" Serna ran up to her fallen friend to check on the Wolfen's condition.
Grunting with effort, Kana was able to get to her knees. "I'm OK," she said breathlessly.
"Serna, stay back and give Kana a chance to do what she can do," cautioned Irzen, "We may not know how this is going to turn out."
Kana's Ex-Servant did as she was commanded while Willow Bark added, "It's up to you, Kana, do your best."
Concentrating, Kana felt for the magic and started to 'pull' it into herself. To the others, the netting seemed to flicker and waver before fading away.
Staggering to her feet, Kana waved off the others and stumbled over to where they had placed Tommy and fell to her knees. "Now the hard part," she said while placing a hand on him.
An odd sensation met Kana's touch. Instead of the warm firmness of flesh, it was almost as if a wind was pushing back against her fingers. She had the feeling that if she pushed but a little harder, her hand would go right through where the Gamer appeared to be.
Seriah watched in anticipation as well as the combined magic of the library and how it connected with the wolfen.
At first nothing seemed to happen. The Wolfen didn't seem to even breath. Then the grass started to noticably grow taller and greener. All of a sudden Kana's head shot back, her eyes shot fully open, glowing a golden yellow, her mouth opened as if in a silent scream and the grass all around her and Tommy instantly grew waist high. Once it was over, the Wolfen bent over, breathing heavily, and tried to catch her breath.
Now my charms are all o'erthrown,
And what strength I have's mine own,
Which is most faint: now, 'tis true,
I must be here confined by you,
Or sent to Naples. Let me not,
Since I have my dukedom got
And pardon'd the deceiver, dwell
In this bare island by your spell;
But release me from my bands
With the help of your good hands:
Gentle breath of yours my sails
Must fill, or else my project fails,
Which was to please. Now I want
Spirits to enforce, art to enchant,
And my ending is despair,
Unless I be relieved by prayer,
Which pierces so that it assaults
Mercy itself and frees all faults.
As you from crimes would pardon'd be,
Let your indulgence set me free.
For a moment it appeared Kana's efforts were successful. Some color returned to Tommy's skin, and he began to breath deeper, as if he were but sleeping. Then the grass around the Gamer stirred as if blown by a breeze. A ripple of…something? nothing? passed through the glade, and the Gamer started to slowly fade from view. With effort, those nearby could see the grass crushed beneath his body.
"Hmm?" The elementalist noticed the gamer's movement that was ever so slightly, "I believe he's coming back to us....slowly."
((OOC Details and translations: Ex nihilo, "Out of nothing." Alea iacta est "The die has been cast." Audeamus "Let us dare." Res ipsa loquitur "The thing speaks for itself." Non omnis moriar "Not all of me will die." Tohuvabohu "Formless and empty." That last one is Hebrew, not Latin. The quote is – in slightly modified form – from the KMFDM song "Tohuvabohu! (Angelspit ex nihilo mix)." The later quote is, of course, from Shakespeare's The Tempest.))
