"This Terenor the Terrible probably set the Talisman up so that only his kind could wield it," confessed Neven, "It would not make much sense for him to create something that ANYBODY could use, right? After all, he did hate Dragons."
"With a passion it would seem," Irzen folded his arms across his chest, "But how on Earth did she get her hands on the Talisman in the first place? Was she entrusted with it? Did she steal it? Or did she just run across it by blind luck?"
"How she may have acquired the Talisman may matter little, Lord Irzen," Willow Bark concluded, "What matters is that she has it but apparently chooses not to use it or cannot use it. Either way, her inability to access the power of that artifact is an advantage in our favor. We may have to face Aurilaz and her brood, but thankfully, we may not have to face any more dragons than that if all goes well."
War Scribe thumbed through a few pages of her second tome, "In answer to your question, Tommy, the references to Aurilaz possessing the Talisman comes throughout different points in the Realm's history. It has also been documented by my predecessors, The Chroniclers of Validor, before my order was betrayed by one of our own. As for her battles, Aurilaz has been challenging both good and evil Dragons to showdowns before and after she acquired The Eleventh Talisman. Sometimes she fought in self-defense, other times for blood, still other times for revenge and still more times for conquest. Say what you want to say about her but she has racked up an impressive winning streak. To date, she has never suffered a documented loss to an opponent. Not bad, huh?"
The Drowling asked once again, "Well, anything else you guys would like to know?"
"Any details on her fights with other Dragons?" the Gamer asked. "Is she a brawler? Does she use magic? And if so, what kind?" He paused. "Realmish Dragons… Is she restricted to an acidic breath weapon? Do the legends give any clue to how many children she might have around her? Oh, and are there any maps of the Dwarven colony available? She's probably done some remodeling, but knowing what she started with could be useful. Not as useful as finding this Myron fellow if that is where he's from, mind you, but better than nothing."
Alyson sighed, "If memory serves, black dragons prefer ambush from they're swampy terrain. Though this particular dragon could be the opposite of her kind due to fact that she's guarding the amulet, which--," she caught herself from repeating what the gamer just asked, "what Tommy said."
"It would also help to have Alyson translate draconian to common," replied the assassin not knowing The Gamer could also speak it as well as translate it too.
"I'll handle the translations around here," War Scribe put her hands on her hips and gave Alyson a cheeky grin, "I am The Chief Chronicler of the Realm and its my duty to perform while I am in my library--not yours!"
Kana stood near War Scribe as the others talked over the info they had gotten. She didn't give anymore tidbits as it had gotten over her head, and she wanted to know what War Scribe wanted to talk to her about.
War Scribe turned to Tommy with a wicked grin, "I knew you were going to ask for maps. You always do!" With that said, the Drowling disappeared and reappeared with two more tomes and an armful of maps which she promptly plopped down onto the cart. Grabbing a book, the Drowling opened it and skimmed through a few pages, "Well fancy that! Aurilaz's fights with other dragons has been well-chronicled over the years, Gamer, and there is an interesting pattern to each and every one of them she has won. All of her victories have been won by ambushes." Pointing to a reference, War Scribe added, "See here, she defeated an ice dragon by ambushing him in his own lair nine hundred years ago." Turning a few pages, she pointed to another reference, "And here, she finished off a green dragon by ambushing her in a dark swamp only six hundred years ago." Flipping through another set of pages, the Chronicler added, "And still here, she defeated a golden dragon by ambushing him in the ruins of an ancient city about three hundred years ago. While she has used a variety of tactics to take down her opponents--from tooth and claw to dark magic to her acidic breath to simply using her environment as a weapon--Aurilaz has won all of her victories by ambushing her opponents."
"It's almost as if someone is tipping her off as to where and when her attackers will attempt to strike at her," the Swordsman scratched his head.
"As for her brood," The Drowling confessed as she opened the second book she brought, "Aurilaz has three documented surviving children since the last reference was made about a hundred years ago. She may or may not have had more kids since that time."
Closing the book and opening up two of the maps, War Scribe added, "These maps were drawn up two hundred years ago, a full century before Aurilaz moved into The Topaz Mountains. As you can see, the Dwarves left a number of secret passages which could get you into or out of that mountain range--provided of course that those passages are still there and not caved-in or filled with water or covered by dense brush. Still, your best bet to get into those mountains undetected would be this Myron Ironbane fellow if he is from those mountains. The last I checked he was still in The Harlech Inn during the werewolf attack and may be there if the nasty little runt did not wind up in some werewolf's stomach. Muwha! Ha! Ha! Ha!"
Willow Bark frowned, "While sneaking into those mountains may not be easy, it may also be pointless as well. Dungeonmaster said the Talisman cannot be taken and that it must be given. How in the Realm are we going to convince Aurilaz to give us this item?"
"Since she knows that it could be used to enslave her?" chirped Serna somewhat reluctantly.
"Good question," chimed in Neven shaking his head at this dilemma.
