War Scribe pointed to the top of the stairs, "There lies the entrance to her lair. Mind your footing, these steps were made for Dwarves not Humans. And if you guys get tired of waiting for the others to come back there lies an inn about a mile to the east where you can rest up and await their return."
"That won't be necessary, Scribe," admitted The Swordsman, "We'll be waiting right here for you guys to come back or to rescue all of you. High Lady Alyson, can you please whistle up your Mermidon and Quake so they can back us up if we need it? Thanks."
"Quake. Mermidon." Was all she said when the wind blew fiercely and the ground beneath the group rumbled suddenly. Both companions of the elementalist now stood there, quietly awaiting further orders.
"Hmm," Tommy mused. "I wonder if I can whistle up some support." He let out a sharp whistle, sliding up and down the scale like a bosun's pipe. After a moment, nothing happened. A moment later, nothing continued to happen. "I suppose not," he concluded.
"It's the thought that counts," admitted The Swordsman, "Besides, after all of the trouble you got into summoning up those semi-deities on our last adventure, I'm surprised you wouldn't want to take a break from summoning up friends of that ilk."
"If you like, Mistress Kana, I'll be more than happy to dress you and help you put your make-up on," offered Serna with a worried smile.
Shaking herself to awareness, she stepped closer to Serna so that she could get the robes on, and markings placed.
Realizing that they were facing a deadline, Serna led Kana off to a nearby grove and quickly got to work undressing and outfitting the Wolfen with her new clothing.
"Ditto, Master Tommy," chimed in Neven, "All I have to do is see the symbols and I can do the rest."
"As you like," the Gamer replied absently, gazing at the observers far above. "The magic here tastes…odd," he commented. "Not that I've spent a lot of time in Dragon lairs, mind you."
Neven did much the same for Tommy as Serna did for Kana. It did not take long for him to change his ward into his new clothing although he did struggle to giggle at the pristine white half-toga, half-sari which appeared better suited for a woman than it was for a man, "We're done, Master Tommy, let's go see what the others are up to? Would you like for me to hold onto your Weapon of Power until you return?"
Leading Kana-who was similarly donned--back to the others, Serna opened the rouge and asked to no one in particular, "Okay, what are those symbols now?"
"And here they are," The Drowling opened her tome to reveal two large Draconic symbols on either page, "Scroll these on your faces and you will be good to go. Now, is there anything else that you guys need before I leave? I have to pop over to The Dustlands and cover a massacre in progress before I rush back here and cover this colossal suicide mission."
Serna opened the rouge and quickly began to apply it to Kana's face, "These symbols aren't so difficult to make, Mistress Kana, they're just kind of weird that's all. You know, this could be a lot of fun--kind of like face-painting--if things weren't so serious right now."
Kana flashed a small smile at Serna, making sure that she didn't move to much to have her make any mistakes.
Closing the rouge jar once she was done, Serna smiled, "I'm done, Mistress Kana, you look, well, odd but in a good sort of way. But if Lady War Scribe says that this will keep you from getting eaten by that mean, nasty Dragon, then I guess it'll work."
"I hope so," Kana agreed.
Serna gave The Wolfen a hug, "But still, be careful, Mistress Kana, and come back safe and sound. I still have to wash and braid your hair, you know, it wouldn't be right if something happened to you before I made you look like a decent Wolfen in the Realm." Kana's Ex-Servant gave her a worried laugh, "By the way, Mistress Kana, do you want me to hold onto your Lightning Bow for you?"
"Thank you," the Wolfen said. After releasing Serna from their hug, she took her Bow and handed it over. She then walked over to where the other two 'messengers' were.
"Figures....you'd leave us in a situation where you didn't have to do the talking, Scribe," Muttered the elementalist on edge.
"What do you want me to do, Alyson? Hold your hand while you face Aurilaz? Muwha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!" mocked the Chronicler, "What are you afraid of, you big baby? You should look on the bright side, aside from Quake, Mermidon and myself, you're the only person here who can speak Draconic. If Aurilaz decides to chomp on your bones, you should take comfort in the fact that she will be able to understand your screams in at least two different languages instead of one. Muwha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!"
Tommy glanced back down at Alyson. "There's a situation where you'd *want* her to do the talking?" he asked, nonplussed.
"Please hold still, Master Tommy," Neven complained as he nearly finished putting on the rouge, "I'm almost done--THERE!"
"Of course there is, Tommy," smiled the Drowling from ear to ear, "If Death decides to pay her a visit, I guarantee you that Alyson will want me to talk to speak on her behalf since Death and I are old friends. Muwha! Ha! Ha! Ha!"
"Well, Master Tommy, be careful and stay safe," Neven gave The Gamer a firm nod.
"We'll be right here to back all of you up," added The Dark Elf, "If you get into trouble, we'll pull you out, drop the mountain down on Aurilaz's head and dig out The Eleventh Talisman from what remains. If there are no questions, I guess its time for you guys to go. Kana, Alyson, Tommy take care all of you, keep your eyes sharp and stay safe."
"Be safe, Mistress Kana!" Serna cautioned her friend.
Willow abstained from saying anything to Alyson aside from two words, "Take care."
