"Aaagghh!" cried Irzen as he turned away from the blinding light, "My eyes!"
"Mermidon! What are you doing?" yelled Willow as he looked away from the Elemental's attack.
The draconian roared, fighting an invisible controller though there were none present.
Serna's shield fortunately protected both her and Neven from most of the harmful effects of the light attack however the Zealots of Aurilaz were not so fortunate.
The blinding attack of light energy sent the Zealots flying through the air away from the Adventurers like unguided missiles. Some flew into nearby rocks and boulders and were smashed against them. Others flew threw the air and back to their village only to come crashing through the roofs of their homes. Still others flew into trees and were impaled upon the few branches they bore. Not all of them were killed, only half of them were slain but all of them were thrown clear of The Adventurers.
"Seriah! What in the Realm is Mermidon doing?" asked the Dark Elf as he tried to regain his sight.
She had barely enough time to shield her own eyes and determined it may have had something to do with the meeting with the dragon, "Did you not notice his eyes? The eyes are the window into the soul, they reveal everything and anything right before something goes very wrong! Surely, this has changed him to work against his will, it takes powerful, ancient magic to drive a creature to do something it would otherwise avoid."
"No, I did not notice his eyes," admitted the Dark Elf, "My attention was more focused upon the Zealots who were trying to make a blood sacrifice out of you and Serna."
"Methinks the Talisman is at work here," confessed Willow Bark, "If Mermidon and Quake have come under Aurilaz's control--"
"--then the truce we have with that Dragon could be over--" continued Irzen with a firm nod.
"--and the others could be in trouble," concluded Serna.
"We have to do something," demanded Neven.
"And we will," the Dark Elf turned to the others, "Willow, keep an eye on Mermidon and Quake but do not engage them under any circumstances no matter what they do."
Willow Bark gave a firm nod to Irzen.
"Serna stick with Neven and keep well away from Mermidon and Quake until we come back with our friends," ordered the Swordsman.
"Yes, Lord Irzen," Serna nodded in agreement.
"Seriah, you're with me," The Dark Elf began to alight up the stone stairs, "Truce or no truce, we're going to figure out what the hell is going on in Aurilaz's lair. Are you up for it?"
