The Gamer grinned. “I’ve always wanted to fight a desperate battle against incredible odds. Besides, this sort of thing tends to work best on people who believe nobody would ever dare try it on them. Like our intended mark.”
"It'll work, I know it will," added Neven with a vicious grin, "We could do it, Master Tommy, we could put one over on The Dark Lord. It would be no different than pulling a bait-and-switch on a rich Jeweler who believes the jewel he is getting is worth more than it actually is." The young Thief added as an afterthought, "Not that I ever ran that kind of a scam on anyone mind you."
"Liar!" snapped Serna with a firm, "Humph!"
"Enough you two!" Seriah glared at the bickering children.
The Thief's sole response was to stick out his tongue at The Shield Maiden.
Kana placed her hand on Serna's shoulder to keep her from responding to Neven's taunt.
"Still Venger would not see it coming," Willow Bark nodded his head in agreement, "For us to strike at him like this would be the least he would expect. I say let us put your plan into action, Tommy, if for no other reason than the one I have just mentioned."
"Agreed!" the Swordsman gave his consent, "Though we better prepare ourselves for Venger's wrath when he realizes that he has been had. Especially you, Alyson, the Dark Lord has taken quite a fancy to making you suffer for not joining him of your own free will. Are you up for confronting him once again knowing full well that he may try to use the Talisman against you?"
"Out numbered a hundred to one, facing certain death, small chance of success, what are we waiting for!" She said in an eerie tone.
”No time to lose, silly,” the Gamer replied in an oddly sibilant voice.
Tommy's gaze quickly swept across the treasure chamber. "Kana, if we go with this plan, can you see if Aurilaz has some orichalcum she can lend to the project? That would be ideal, though star silver and a crystallized dragon's tear would work, too." Tommy shrugged. "Heck, I can use anything as the telesma, but there's no reason to make this more difficult than we have to. Actually, there would be several advantages to using your body as the focus, though orichalcum would make even that process easier." He sighed. "I'd rather avoid the approaches that involve breaking our word, because – ethical and social considerations aside – there would be magical repercussions for me. Call it a geas."
"Dragon's Tears are hard to come by unless," Alyson clicked her fingers together, "Oh? Quake!"
"Then let us not break our word," the Wolfen told Tommy. Then turning toward the way the Black Dragon had gone when she had left, she called, "Aurilaz. I have need of you again."
"You rang!" Came the reply from the fire-stone from the cavernous tunnel. "Sorry, not going anywhere near that thingy on the wolfen's neck. Gives me the willies."
"We need a dragon tear."
"Uh-huh." Quake said flatly, "What? You think that I'm just gonna start shedding, *sniff* tears?"
"Sure you can do it, Quake," smiled Serna, "I believe in you."
Alyson cocked her head as she watched the elemental dragon curiously.
*Sniff, sniff* Quake blinked as a single tear ran down the side of her head falling towards the hard floor. Just before it hit, the dragon grabbed it. What was liquid was now a crystal the size a baseball, "Oh! Hey, look peoples! Look at what I got!"
"Yay!" clapped Serna, "Good job, Quake, and thanks!"
Tommy grinned. “See? Between a Dragonbound Elementalist and, well, being in the lair of an ancient Dragon, I figured it wouldn’t be *too* hard to get our hands on one of we needed it.” He shrugged. “I’d still rather the orichalcum. Hmm. Lemme tink. I kin do summat…” He paused with a frown. “I’m sure I can find a use for the tear even with the orichalcum. If nothing else…” The Gamer looked at Alyson. “Have you ever used a Mana Stone?”
Seemingly out of the shadowy darkness of the cavern through which she previously passed, Aurilaz obediently yet silently rematerialized before the Wolfen and bowed her head low once more, "What is thy bidding, my Mistress Master?"
"I have need for some orichalcum," Kana told her. "That is if you have any."
Levitating a small chest from the bottom of her chamber over to the Wolfen and placing it at Kana's feet, the Black Dragon declared, "This chest contains the orichalcum that you seek. Is there any other way that I may serve you, my Mistress Master?"
"Thank you, but no. That is all," Kana said. "You may go back to resting."
Casting a glance over to the fire-stone dragon, Aurilaz snarled at Quake, "And what are you doing here? I did not permit you entry into my domain. Begone, Little Wyrm, unless you wish to suffer for your trespass."
"I called for her," Kana told Aurliaz as she brought the chest to Tommy. "And I will send her on her way," then to Quake, "If you could go and keep an eye on V for us."
