In answer to your question, the student's name was Glenn and he was played by Philip Holmes. This is his only movie role according to the Internet Movie Database (INDB.com) and yes, All deaf charatcers in "Children of a Lessser God" are played by actors who are deaf in real life. First film ever to accomplish this.
