Posted by Tiffany Smith on 2/10/2004, 1:11 pm Pictures and Resumes Should Be Sent to AFTRA By Feb. 20 CBS is sponsoring a talent showcase for performers with disabilities on Wednesday, April 28, in association with SAG, AFTRA and the California State Media Access Office. Lawrence Kaldor, a member of the Media Access Office and SAG member, will direct the event. Pictures and resumes should be sent to AFTRA, 5757 Wilshire Blvd., 9th floor, Los Angeles, Calif. 90036 -- attn: Meta Williams. The deadline is Feb. 20. Please indicate on a separate piece of paper if special accommodations are required. CBS Entertainment development executives and casting directors from the Network's primetime and daytime programs will be on hand and an invitation has also been extended to casting directors from production companies that work with CBS. The Media Access Office is a co-partnership of the California Governor's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities and the State Employment Development Department. The Media Access Office actively promotes the employment and accurate portrayal of persons with disabilities in all areas of the media and entertainment industry, ensuring that the industry recognizes people with disabilities as part of cultural diversity. The Media Access Office currently has 800 adult members and 140 young performers on file ranging from beginners to seasoned actors. To date, CBS's talent showcases have included Latino American Talent Showcases in partnership with NOSOTROS; a Native American Talent Showcase in association with American Indians in Film; African American Talent Showcases in collaboration with The Robey Theatre Company and Asian Pacific American Actors Showcases in association with East West Players. The Network's on-going talent showcases are part of the CBS Diversity Institute, a comprehensive program designed to identify and develop diversity within the writing, directing and talent communities.
