THE PATH WE TREAD/NO TURNING BACK
We as human-beings and citizens of the United States of America have a right to defend ourselves and our personal domicile. With the laws preventing or restricting gun ownership and along with the personal decision of some to reject guns in the home, the right to own a dog for our personal protection is the next logical, dependable, lovable alternative.
At the same time, the community and society at large has the right to be safe.
There are many advocates in our society who are against dogs that protect, They feel that we do not have the right to own an animal that is capable of defending us. These people are organized professional and methodical in there relentless pursuit to change laws .They have learned to speak as lobbyist and citizen groups. They use as evidence terrible dog bites, against innocent people.
Breed ban legislation is on the rise, and other laws are being put into effect that will put dog owners and there trainers into court. I believe it will not be long before even more drastic legislation sweeps the nation.
Therefore I call on all those who train dogs, to recognize the future , stop living in the past, in the world of chase and bite. That is only legal for the police and military. It is not legal for the citizen dog owner.
It is true that we at the PPDA have pointed out the difference between , chase bite & hold = prey , and defense = all defense, all the time.
Because no matter what your belief is, if a dog bites some one for any reason other than your defense, there will be hell to pay.
The PPDA is willing to make even a greater difference between ourselves and others. We invite you all who have the courage and the fore site to join us in the pursuit of defense- for defense sake.
The PPDA has converted all its titles and its championship to the muzzle. We do not believe that the bite is essential for defense. We believe by using the muzzle we will prove that the dog has been trained to defend and not just bite.
We believe that the dog world has become a slave to the bite. The bite is exciting, the bite is entertaining, almost like lions and gladiators in the arena.
This is true in all dog sports , name the group or the club or organization and this applies. They are all, a slave to the bite.
We say take the bite out of the equation which leads us to the obvious question, Can and will your dog still defend you? Is his reward to satisfy himself and his trained lust and drive to bite, or does the dog apply itself and find its reward in the defense of its master?
There is only one way to know and there is only one way to prove it.
Sept. 11, 2005, the PPDA will offer the crown jewel of its title system,” The Peacemaker”
The peacemaker is not just the name of the event, the peacemaker is a title that will be earned by any dog/handler team who can score 80% of the total points allowed in the trial.

Some one may want to learn. Weather you want to learn or teach your welcome to do so. The field will be set up and ready for sundays event. We can all practice the scenarios for the PEACEMAKER on Sunday.
