Many times, the tempermant of the stallion isnt noted, and if your looking for tempermant, pictures of a stallion with his nostrils flaring and hooves flying and neck arched don't seem to convey a calm message. It seems, as I flip through more and more renowned farms, I might see a saddle on one of these horses, but never a rider. Arent these the descents horses that carried sheiks and their families across the desert hundreds of years ago? That slept with their heads poked into the tents, treated like family? Under these beautiful horses' acomplishments, there is often a long string of halter championships. That is all well and good, but what about a rider on his back? What is the purpose of his offspring - when they first put a rider on that colt's back, one who's lineage seem to carry generations of unbroken, riderless horses that concentrate soley on correctness and beauty... for what? To what end? This is not always the case, I know. I have seen quite a few websites that point out many of the stallion's riding qualities and accomplishments. More often than not, it isnt the stressed point, more like a side note at best. It's obvious you people don't breed for this... I guess my question is, what exactly ARE you breeding for? As I take my amazingly trusting gelding over difficult terrain or put a little girl on his back to ride for the first time, I admire his beauty. I admire his correct conformation, his beautiful head, his flaxen mane. I agree with all of this, but it's not why I fell in love with him, and it's not why I fell in love with the breed.

Let me start off by saying that I have been an arabian lover from the beginning, and this is my seventh year owning a wonderful Crabbet that I would never part with. I often frequent many of the arabian websites, especially the often impressive Straight Egyptian farms and their amazingly beautiful horses. It is a delight to see these beautiful horses, nostrils flaring, many times in goergous costume and show halters.
