I would recommend taking the slower ferry from Dublin Port. The quicker ferry is often cancelled in the winter months. Its a 2hour drive from holyhead. Use Stena Adventurer. You can often find a discount code online (15%) & book at least 2 weeks in advance for best prices. I've had some great deals in the winter months.
