Firstly, I do not think David Moyes is a bad manager - he has many good points and is reliable in terms of stability. However I do believe he is defensive minded most of the time and he sets his team out to avoid defeat. That was fine after years of avoiding relegation, but after seven years I would like to think that we could have a better option than 4-5-1, relying on work ethic and set pieces. We have been crying out for some pace in wide midfield and/or a box to box player (not easy I know) but Fellaini has the pace of a snail, cant carry the ball and no shot .... for £15m I would expect more than his headers and one touch passes (and no I am not anti fellaini). I would just like us to play a bit more creatively and ditch the Yobo/Hibbo hoof
.
Moyes has learned his trade at Goodison and got away with a lot, his winning Manager of the Year is a credit to him but I dont believe he won it for our style of football - more for his getting the best out of what he was working with when compared to the mega rich managers. This begs the question- how would DM do if he was at Old Trafford or Chelski with an unlimited budget? I think he would have to change his outlook and I think that would not happen .... work ethic first, skill second.
I fully admit I'm a kneejerker as I dont like to see us repeat mistakes and fail to perform ... so when I see the likes of Cahill playing on the right wing, its always going to end in disaster and its frustrating. No doubt I've added the Taxi comment during one of my rants but I usually do so with a question mark at the end in order to rise Joe or TQ as we've been at this for years now
Bottom line:
Id take all the stick the lads could give me with a huge grin on my face if Moyes wins us a cup
.....but Id draw the line at doing a Bernie Slaven
Ps I have no agenda with you and agree with a lot of your posts but I always write knowing you are ready and waiting
